International Juried Photography Call for Entry
NEW YORK CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ART
JUROR: DEBRA KLOMP CHING
Owner - Director The Klompching Gallery
DEADLINE: March 17, 2019 (Midnight Pacific Time)
(All entrants are notified of prize status via E mail about 3 weeks after the deadline)
The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, color etc.). Winners will receive over $4,000 in cash awards, be featured in the NYC4PA Online Gallery and Award Winners Catalog. The Grand Prize winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page.
This, our mid winter call, is a little different from most of our others. We still have a wonderful juror, an online gallery and a winners’ catalog. However cash awards are larger in lieu of the gallery show for Prize Winners and Juror Selections.
Though a photograph is a snapshot in time, the world around us is in constant motion. This call is not about "still life", "landscape", or "posed portrait" images. It is about how you capture the idea of motion/momentum in a single frame; photographs that clearly send a message to the viewer that the subject or the camera/lens is moving. Is the position of the subject the indication - a wave arched to crash, or a ballerina in mid air? Or is it the subject or background blurred as in a speeding train you have panned with background buildings a blur?
Examples are everywhere - the silky vision of water over a waterfall taken at a slow shutter speed, water droplets frozen in time, trees bent in blowing wind, ripples of a boat's wake, fireworks. Sports, transportation and animals each afford a huge number of possibilities and, of course, there are endless ways camera and zoom action can draw the viewers eye.
